JARDINS DE CRISTAL – BAGATELLE

By BobP

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :

We just spent a lovely Sunday afternoon in the wonderful XVIIIth century Bagatelle gardens in the Bois de Boulogne, just west of Paris.  The current exhibit, Jardins de Cristal, features crystal sculptures throughout the park.

Sponsored by the Lorraine region in eastern France, where most fine Crystal emanates from, Daum, Baccarat, Lalique, and St Louis have all contributed original pieces to this extraordinary exhibit.

Outdoors, discover a Baccarat bear floating on water, a winter garden filled with flowers and fruits by Saint Louis, an Island with amaryllis blossoms by Daum and Lalique swans and fish swimming in a pond.  Under supervision of Vincent Dupont-Rougier, the interior of the Trianon hosts amazing montages of Crystal chandeliers (Baccarat), flowers, fruit and glasses (Saint Louis) and Buddhas/Bodhisavittas (Daum) and glass.

Not to be missed too is the annual rose garden exhibit on the southern edge of the park.

Location: Parc de Bagatelle –  entry at the corner of Route de Sèvres in Neuilly and allée de Longchamps in the Bois de Boulogne, 16th arrondissement, Paris.
